The Journey Through the Ancient Temple Of Guruvayur

The guruvayur temple is one among the most prominent and ancient hindu temple in south india. The primary diety of  the temple is lord krishna and worshipped in the form of balagopala, known as Guruvayurappan.

The journey to Guruvayur temple started with the sacred idol of lord Krishna who is worshipped by lord Mahavishnu, Brahma, and lord Krishna. When lord Krishna returned after finishing their earthly life in the area where he lived, Dwaraka was submerged in the sea.

Lord Krishna instructed his devotees to take care of the sacred idol with the help of the guru and vayu. As per his instruction, they retrieved the idol and started searching for a proper place to install it.

Finally, they found Malayadri where lord Shiva and Parvati were already located. As per the guru’s and Vayu’s request lord siva agreed to relocate from there. Later guru and vayu together reinstalled the sacred idol at guruvayur.

As the centuries passed, the devotees of lord Krishna developed the temple and it faced lots of adversities for its existence. During the time of zamorins, they played a key role in the development of the temple.

Later Tip Sulthan came to this place and set the temple on fire as a part of destroying Hinduism and growing Islamic religion. Later the collective support of the devotees and other authorities helped to regain the glory of the Guruvayur temple.

The development and maintenance of the temple was not that much easier for the devotees. They made it through their strong faith and devotion to the lord Krishna. Now, the Guruvayur temple is one of the most prominent temples as well as the spiritual center for the devotees.
