The famous Sree Krishna temples of South India are:
Guruvayur Sree Krishna temple: it is considered the Dwaraka of the south and it is one of the most revered Krishna temples of India. The temple is located in the guruvayur town of the Thrissur district of Kerala and they follow a unique culture in worshipping their lord. The temple worships the lord Krishna in his Bala Gopala form called Guruvayurappan and it attracts the devotees into the temple. The innocence of the divine child attracts them and they can also relate to the god as their son. So it enhances the connection between the god and the devotee.
Amabalppuzha Sree Krishna Swany temple is the other major Krishna temple which is located in the Alappuzha district of Kerala. The temple is famous for its offering called paalpayasam. The temple is dedicated to the lord Parthasarathy, an incarnation of lord Krishna as Arjuna charioter. The temple also has a connection with the traditional art form called ottanthullal.
Sri Parthasarathy temple: the temple is primarily dedicated to Parthasarathy and the incarnation of Lor Krishna as Arjuna’s chariot and it is located in a place called Chennai in the state of Tamilnadu. It is one of the oldest Vaishnava temples in Chennai. It is famous for its unique architectural grandeur and its historical mentions in the local texts of Tamil literature.
Udupi Sree Krishna Swamy temple: the temple is located in the Udupi district of Karnataka and it was established by the Dvaitha philosopher Sri Madhavacharya in 13 th century. This temple also worships the lord Krishna in his childhood form known as Bala Gopala.
