The guruvayur temple is considered as the major pilgrim site for the devotees of lord krishna. the temple has  unique model of worship and diggerent types of rituals.

The guruvayur temple and its surrounding places are a better option for planning a one day trip and it helps to understand about the various culture and traditions of different temples and other religious sites too.

The journey can start by visiting the Guruvayur temple in the early morning 3.00 o clock to witness the divine nirmalyam pooja.

The temple is open from early morning 3.00 to12.pm for morning darshan. The devotees can spend the morning time in the temple and its premises after that they can go for the nest destination.

 The mammiyur temple, which is located about 1km away from the guruvayur temple. it is dedicated to the lord Mahadeva and the temple is open for its devotees from morning 5.00 am to 12.30 pm and in the evening 4.45 pm to 8.30 pm.

After visiting these temples the devotees can spend time in the punathurkotta where the temple elephants are housed. The people can relax and have luch in the near by shops or can have the luch in temple only . everyday annadanam will be there in guruvayur temple.

Late afternoon the devotees can visit the Parthasarathy temple which is also located near to the guruvayur temple. next they can visit the chamundeswari temple. they can perform offerings and witness the poojas performed during early evening time.

Evening after 6.30 pm the journey can be continued by visiting the nearest famous Christian church known as st. Thomas major archi episcopal shrine, palayoor. The church is located about 2km away from the guruvayur temple.
